Welcome to the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. As the Head of the Department, I, Dr. Vijayendra Gaikwad, take immense pride in leading a department that stands at the intersection of intelligent computing, AI-driven interdisciplinary research and technological evolution. In today’s data-driven world, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science are not just disciplines—they are transformative forces reshaping industries, redefining problem-solving and driving the next wave of digital transformation, innovation and intelligent decision-making across diverse sectors.

This transformative potential has opened up vast career opportunities for students in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science across both public and private sectors. AI and Data Science professionals are increasingly contributing to diverse domains such as business analytics, healthcare, manufacturing, finance, e-commerce, social networking, gaming, sports and entertainment.

The field offers a wide spectrum of career pathways, innovative job roles and research avenues such as Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Artificial Intelligence Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, AI Research Scientist, Software Developer, AI Solutions Architect and AI/ML Specialist, making skilled professionals in these domains highly sought after globally.

The bachelor degree programme in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (AI & DS) has been established in the academic year 2026-2027 with an intake capacity of 60. The department is committed to fostering a dynamic, research- and industry-oriented learning ecosystem that promotes analytical thinking, innovation through problem-solving, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

With the active involvement of industry experts and academic leaders, the department continuously strives to align its academic practices and curriculum with evolving technological and industry requirements. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to integrate core computer science principles with Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, statistical methods and mathematical foundations.

The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science provides state-of-the-art infrastructure through well-equipped laboratories, high-configuration computing systems and the latest open-source tools and technologies to support teaching, learning, innovation and research. Through outcome-based and hands-on learning approaches, the department aims to equip students with quality education, technical expertise, analytical abilities and ethical awareness required to develop intelligent solutions for real-world problems in the diverse domains of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
